1: How much setup are you willing to do? Of the two, affiliate marketing requires less in the way of direct setup. You don’t need to contact suppliers, you just need to sign up for an affiliate network. You need to set up a website with both, but an affiliate marketer can use a simple blog, while a dropshipper needs a storefront. Dropshipping also requires more internal infrastructure to handle transactions and payments, including a business bank account to keep funds separate from personal funds.
Affiliate networks also make it very easy to find products and services to promote. They will list advertisers by category and show which advertisers other publishers are currently having the most success with. Commission Junction, a large affiliate advertising network, currently has nearly 3,000 different advertisers listed. You will have the most success by promoting products that are closely related to the content that you write about. If you had a website about investing, you would primarily want to promote investing related services like stock brokerages and stock research tools. You wouldn’t get good results by promoting unrelated services like web hosting and domain name registration services.
Affiliate marketing examples are everywhere online. Visit any niche site and chances are you’ll find some kind of affiliate marketing. You’ll notice that affiliate marketing looks a lot like display ads. With display advertising, you create ads that appear on other websites. When site visitors click on them, they’re taken to a landing page where they can learn more about your product and convert to become a paying customer.

You mentioned when you have an email that works, feel free to repeat the email in about a month. I have actually found success in the sending it out much sooner. If you have an email that does great, re-send it in 2 – 5 days. Just change the subject and set your segment to only send to people that did not open the original email. StudioPress itself is somewhat of a niche product as it is targeted to existing WordPress users who found setting up and managing a WordPress site too difficult or time-consuming. StudioPress prides itself on being easy to use, but their main claim to fame is that their hosted websites are “faster and more secure” than other WordPress hosting companies as well as using the “Genesis framework” which is supposedly more SEO friendly than other WordPress builds.
“If your deals are loose, your affiliate partners’ mailings will be loose too, which is never good for the bottom line. Now there is a big difference in those two different business models, not just in terms of how you make money but in terms of where you can advertise. With Google, especially Google Adwords and Google Product Listing Ads, they do not allow affiliate sites. You can’t upload your CSV of products and get traffic from Google if you have an affiliate site. And that is massive!
Hi guys! I think between affiliate marketing and online store the real problem is the capital that is involved, if you want to earn more you also need to invest more. What is good about affiliate marketing is that, you can earn even without having to shell out a single cent, all you have to do is to maintain a good site and increase your viewers. The more credible and the more people view your site the more businesses will pay you. I may agree in some point that online store may pay off more only that you also need to invest more. You need a starting capital for your products, good if you really have the business. But for those who do not have the money but have the time affiliate marketing may be more profitable for some.

“Cost of goods changes from time to time, product prices drop, etc. One mistake I made was not re-calculating all commissions to determine they were set correctly. After doing some digging, I realized that commissions on a few of our products were way higher than what they should have been. One way to fix this is to re-adjust commissions each year,” she explained.
