Now a customer comes along and orders one of your cases. They pay you $20 and you immediately turn around, contact your supplier, and order one for $10. You don’t do anything else. You give the customer’s address to the supplier, and you give the customer the supplier’s customer service information. The supplier ships the product directly to the customer, and you pocket the $10. If the customer has an issue, the supplier’s customer service department deals with it.

Dropshipping is where you curate and list products on your site. So in this example, you create a store of products but you are the middleman. You take orders, handle payment processing and customer service issues but the manufacturer ships the product for you. So instead of having a warehouse and holding product and all the costs associated with that, you partner with a drop shipper who stocks and ships the inventory. You get to set your own product price. So you basically buy wholesale and mark up the prices. Suppliers will suggest a retail price and you need to see what similar products are selling for so that you don’t price yourself out of the market. But, you get to decide what you want to charge!
So as an affiliate marketer, you have to build a compelling website, attract traffic to that website, and retain a consistent audience in order to sell ads. Then, you join an affiliate network like Amazon or eBay, and they show ads on your site. It’s important to note that affiliates don’t earn money by simply serving ads. They have to direct qualified traffic to a company’s site so that the company can earn more in sales.
Be Transparent – You should always disclose to your subscribers if you are receiving a commission for promoting a product or service for honesty, transparency and even legal reasons. In the United States, the FTC requires that you disclose any payment that you receive for endorsing a product or service. You can read the FTC’s endorsement guidelines at http://1.usa.gov/1FRMynQ.
AWIN is probably best for experienced affiliates who can hit the ground running without a lot of guidance or feedback from the network. There is a $5 fee charged to apply to become an affiliate, but if you’re approved, the $5 will be added to your account. If your application is denied, however, you will lose the $5 fee. AWIN operates globally, but it is most heavily concentrated on British and EU merchants.

When running an affiliate marketing business, the costs are generally quite low. There’s usually no fee for the affiliate to pay as the merchant usually covers administrative fees on affiliate networks like Clickbank or Amazon Associates. The only costs that an affiliate typically pays for are their own website and server, which keeps costs low. However, as an affiliate marketer, you’re required to pay for the marketing costs as you’re the person driving traffic to the merchant’s website. Yet, as it is a business expense, you’ll likely be able to write it off during tax season.

There is no shortage of products you’ll be able to promote. You’ll have the ability to pick and choose products that you personally believe in, so make sure that your campaigns center around truly valuable products that consumers will enjoy. You’ll achieve an impressive conversion rate while simultaneously establishing the reliability of your personal brand.

At the same time, when you do dropshipping, you fully own your venture. That’s your own website with your own style and design, with your unique product descriptions, and with your own price markup. It’s up to you to decide what niche to enter, which suppliers to choose, which products to add to your online store, and what price to set. You run your business as you like, choosing any promotional methods you fancy, and you are fully in control of it.
Dropshipping or affiliate marketing, which one should you go for? Online businesses are a very promising way of making money quickly if you know the basics and you work hard at it. Consequently, many people have started selling their own products or getting them wholesale from Asian suppliers. These types of e-commerce are mostly a secondary form of income and don’t require too much work to maintain.

The truth is that both influencer and affiliate marketing are powerful ways to educate your target audience and turn them into customers. Not understanding the differences and how each strategy works means you miss out on opportunities to increase your reach and grow your business. You see, it’s not about relying on just one strategy all the time but instead figuring out which one meets your current goals and alternating between the strategies.

When you do a PPC campaign for the merchant, keep in mind that you’re not the only marketer they have. If the merchant is a big business, for example, they will have their own marketing team who might also be doing PPC ads. It’s important, then, that you collaborate with them and make sure that you’re not spending your dollars on keywords that the merchant has already allocated money for.

JVZoo works exclusively with digital products, primarily e-commerce, online courses, and internet marketing offers. Because there are no limits placed on the number of links, buy buttons, or calls to action on a website, JVZoo can sometimes be somewhat low quality both in terms of offers as well as products. Nonetheless, it has proven itself to be a fierce competitor to companies like ClickBank.

Another one of the highest paying and most popular dating affiliate programs is eHarmony, which is based on the actual earnings that can be made from each referred sale. Up to $188 can be made from a single sale. In general, the members at eHarmony are typically looking to find serious long term relationships, so many of them are willing to pay extra to find similar people.

In the example above I answer three questions from a reader.  This is a great email because it covers a few techniques I’ve learned as a blogger.  So the subscriber receives genuine value.  In addition, I’ve carefully woven in three recommendations for the Blog Success program.  The message is content-filled, but it also gives a subtle push to learn more about blogging through my affiliate link.
When you partner with an influencer with a large following, make sure there’s a clear CTA. The influencer will get engagement in the form of likes and comments, but you need their followers to click through to your page. Instead of asking an influencer to show your product and mention it by name, give them a promo code to share with their followers. The benefit of a special promo code is getting followers to act and the ability to track conversions based on it. For example, you can see how many people used the code to buy something during the campaign.

Influencers are typically paid upfront. There is no set amount that influencers earn; this is something your brand must negotiate with the influencers you’re interested in working with. The money you pay is not directly tied to the outcome of the campaign, and there are no guarantees that the campaign will result in the results you want. Brands typically use this type of campaign to increase brand awareness.
Pat Flynn (www.smartpassiveincome.com) is a great example of someone that does affiliate marketing properly through email, his website and his podcast. He has established himself as an online business experts and recommends tools, products and services to his audience that can help them build their online businesses. He only promotes products that he can personally recommend and is always transparent when he receives an affiliate commission for promoting something. He has built such a large audience and has gotten so effective at affiliate marketing that the commissions he generates through affiliate marketing have become far larger than the actual revenue he makes from his other online businesses. It’s not uncommon for Flynn to generate between $50,000 and $100,000 each month through his affiliate marketing efforts.
Another powerful motivator is ensuring your highest performing affiliates maximize their return on investment. “In any given day, they have 20+ offers at their fingertips that they can mail, and I want them to choose mine because I pay them the most, without them needing to ask. I always give my top affiliates the absolute max I can in commissions. They drive the majority of our revenue, and they need to be treated like gold,” she said.
