Dropshipping does have the primary drawback that there is a lot of existing competition. If you’re trying to sell $10 tablet cases for $20, you can bet there are other people out there trying to do the same thing. Some of them might price their cases at $15, in which case you have to ask yourself; why would a user buy from me rather than from them? What value do I add for $5 that the competition cannot? Dropshipping definitely seems to be more involved as far as getting all the pieces of the puzzle working for you and advertising and managing shipping, etc. If you are not a good writer or like writing, dropshipping may be more your cup of tea. Affiliate marketing is a great option but you must be willing to do a lot of writing. If you can handle the writing, then affiliate marketing is a much better option. I chose to get started in affiliate marketing and have learned a ton since!
In comparison with Dropshipping, affiliate marketing is a lot easier to start and manage. In a dropshipping website, you will have to actively monitor the store and order products through suppliers. All this requires time. But in an affiliate website, you don’t have to actually do any of this because you get a commission by letting people buy through your link. That’s it.

This may sound like a huge advantage; however, it’s a little more complicated than that. Let’s first take a look at all the similarities between dropshipping and affiliate marketing.

Look to see what others say about them. I was looking at one dropshipper which had what I thought was some good products. But checking them out it turned out the products were crap and their customer service was appalling. Once they got the customers money they did not give a damn. And if you're dropshipping their product it is you who has to deal with them and will get it in the neck from your customers. When someone purchases a product from the dropshipper’s website, they place an order with the supplier. The supplier then packages and ships the product to the customer. Dropshipping is a great business model for a first-time ecommerce entrepreneur or people who want to test categories of products on their audience. Ecommerce entrepreneurs have even been known to run their ecommerce stores while studying, or working full-time.
Day by day, more and more companies participate to using this marketing method to create their own business web-site. This partnership is a low–cost model; because it is paid only when sales are completed. For instance, most affiliates pay 5% commission for every visitor who purchases a product suggested by its affiliate marketing platform. (Generally another web-site) Although commission is a very small percentage, the partnership allows affiliates to benefit from brand awareness by providing a continuous level of sales to the company.
