Asking a question is a subject line technique that works well because it gives the customer something to think about. Your question should be something on almost every customer's mind. And by opening your email, they're answering that question through their interest. You can even answer the question in your subject line. Here are a few examples of question-type subject lines:

Drip is a great tool for eCommerce businesses, bloggers and digital marketers (beginner or seasoned veteran). In addition to integrations with WordPress and WooCommerce, which make it easier for users to add sign up forms and capture leads, Drip has a lot of unique features that make it competitive. These fun features include list groups, smart email segmentation, and even some tools to help users to reach out to certain audiences. On top of that it is also a marketing automation tool, which means it goes beyond email blasts.

Want to quickly personalize your email templates? Mailerlite makes that easy, with color-focused themes with content blocks you can move around. Its pre-made templates aren't rigid, HTML templates, but instead include the same header, signature, background colors, and content blocks as any other them. That makes them easy to make your own. You can then use those same tools to build landing pages and popups to gather subscribers for your lists.

Every week, the folks at InVision send a roundup of their best blog content, their favorite design links from the week, and a new opportunity to win a free t-shirt. (Seriously. They give away a new design every week.) They also sometimes have fun survey questions where they crowdsource for their blog. This week's, for example, asked subscribers what they would do if the internet didn't exist.
Newsletters have historically been emails that humble-brag about internal company achievements and give generic information to the poor saps that were unfortunate enough to end up on said company's RSS feed (whatever that is, or rather, was). So while the old “newsletter” content is useless and dead,  successful marketers know that quality email marketing is still one of the best marketing tools available, especially for service-based businesses. Depending on which study you read, you get $35 to $40 back for every dollar you invest in email! This reinforces the fact that, hands down, there's nothing more valuable than direct access to someone’s attention.
When thinking about the five types of email marketing described previously, direct sales emails are best for customer acquisition, revenue generation and customer win-back. Direct sales emails may also have a role in your customer retention plan but should not be used as the exclusive means for retaining customers via email communications. Direct sales emails should not be used at all for customer loyalty and brand building email efforts.
I’m currently looking for an email marketing service for a mailing list of about 80,000 subscribers. I run an information product business in the fitness industry with a large number of customers buying our ebooks and online courses every day. I’m particularly interested in GetResponse, although I’d be keen to hear your thoughts on the flexibility of their service for creating autoresponders, and integrating with a checkout service (we use WooCommerce).

In 1998 the Data Protection Act was updated to ensure all email marketing included an opt-out; in 2003 the Can Spam Law was introduced in the US setting the first regulations for commercial emails; in the same year in Europe, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations were introduced defining rules for marketing permission; and in 2004 Sender Policy Framework (SPF) was introduced providing an email validation system to help prevent email spam by verifying a sender IP address.
Why It’s Important: Gregory Ciotti, writing for HelpScout, states: “Successfully utilizing customer feedback is a must for any business looking to provide users with the products they need. Feedback guides and informs your decision-making and influences your product roadmap. It’s also essential for measuring customer satisfaction among your current customers. Getting a handle on how customers view your product, support, and company is invaluable.”
Then, you can use Vision6 to reach those contacts wherever they are. Right along with your email updates, you can schedule SMS and social media messages to go out at the same time. Maybe there is someone out there that still likes getting monthly or weekly emails in their inbox with subject lines like “August newsletter: update of company events at blah blah Inc.” However, for most of us the word “newsletter” has become unattractive; devoid of meaning and therefore any value. We don't like the newsletters we receive nor do we get anything out of them so we resist creating our own email marketing campaigns in fear of being that meaningless content dribbling into others inboxes that we dislike so much ourselves.

If subscribers haven’t responded to our first email sequence, introduce a meaningful discount paired with a compelling message to make a return visit. How big of an offer can you make that won’t tank sales? It could be a discount, free gift with purchase or even product bundle. Keep your margins in mind, but if there’s a time to offer a steeper discount than usual, that time is now.
We strongly suggest that you get permission from all of your subscribers before sending emails, especially with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation in effect. And most email service providers, like VerticalResponse, require you have permission before sending any email through their service. The only time you don’t have to warn readers about ads? If everyone on your list has agreed to receive your emails.
When you're ready to send an email to your list, it's as easy as sending a reply in Outlook or Gmail. Sendloop's editor show your From address and Subject line at the top, lets you pick your subscriber list in the To field, then type in your email with rich or plain text. If you need to edit photos, there's a built-in Creative Cloud-powered editor for simple Photoshop tools in your browser.
What they should improve: It's probably more of a feature than a bug but definitely one of the things I don't find ideal – you're completely dependent on Amazon SES. Because of that, the setup process takes a lot longer than for other newsletter tools. You have to register for two different services and Amazon requests a lot of information from you.

The National Small Business Ombudsman and 10 Regional Fairness Boards collect comments from small businesses about federal compliance and enforcement activities. To comment, call toll-free 1-888-REGFAIR (1-888-734-3247) or go to www.sba.gov/ombudsman.
Janet: Yeah, and I think one interesting difference between them, as you were saying that with the drip emails, everyone gets the same one depending on where they are in their customer life cycle, versus the newsletter, you sort of enter the stream, where you enter the stream. If you signed up for a newsletter last week, you’ll just start getting that stream of information that they’re sending out.

A/B test your headlines – For emails going to larger audiences, don’t be afraid to test different types of subject line. If you are contacting several hundred prospects at once via autoresponder, try a handful of different headlines to see which perform best. Software that supports A/B testing in a single batch is even more effective because you can keep all variables static except for the subject line.
Emails triggered by milestones, like anniversaries and birthdays, are fun to get -- who doesn't like to celebrate a special occasion? The beauty of anniversary emails, in particular, is that they don't require subscribers to input any extra data, and they can work for a variety of senders. Plus, the timeframe can be modified based on the business model.
Alot of email marketing companies will charge several hundred dollars or even thousands of dollars more than we do to send out your emails. This is because many of these companies are simply purchasing the list from the source companies like ours to send out your emails. They will purchase from us then add their markup and end up selling our email marketing service to their end users. As such, it is very hard for businesses to make money by email marketing with prices so high. Cut out the middleman and use our email marketing service direct from the source.

Carl: Exactly, and of the things I love to do in a drip for example is to try and choose your response from the subscriber. So ask them why they’re interested in, or what is their favorite article of clothing, or what are you going to do this week, whatever the case might be. And a company like Uniqlo, if they would set up a drip or maybe somebody with a volume such as MailChimp, doesn’t have the resources to handle that kind of responses or maybe don’t want to.

Likewise, there are also companies who sell "Email Marketing" or supposed opt-in email for much less than we do. All these companies are doing is SPAMMING people with your offer. These are the companies you see online selling millions of emails for $xxx. This is far less than what we even pay websites for co-registration data. Using these types of companies to email for you  will inevitably cause you major problems with your web hosting company and in fact can get your website shut down.

Get direct access to those who matter in your target market, and improve your marketing and sales drive with our targeted email marketing lists. The success a quality, current and consistent targeted lists plays in your business success cannot be downplayed. That means that immediately post-order is a great time to send a big “thank you” for their purchase, a confirmation of what they’ll be receiving and when (along with some beautiful pictures to heighten the anticipation and reinforce their purchase), tips and tricks on how to use the product and more. It’s also a great time to present additional offers for discounts for similar products to encourage follow-on purchases.  Some brands include a “thank-you” discount coupon for a future purchase. While the dopamine is flowing freely, it is also a good time to ask your new customers to refer their friends to your brand, so be sure to include an invitation to your referral program in the footer.
The ability to track onsite events makes ActiveCampaign unique from other services. For example, you can track custom event calls from within mobile apps, billing apps and more. All your customer data will be organized in a sales CRM that gives you a complete picture of your customers. You can use this data to create highly effective marketing campaigns and followups.
"Your approach is AWESOME! I am very impressed with all of the resources available here. I have been online for about 10 years, and trying to make money online for 1-1/2 yrs . Like just about everyone else, I have spent hundreds of dollars here and there, trying to find that magical combination to unlock my success.... I do believe I have found it here."

Email newsletters can provide a wealth of data about who your customers are and offer insight into their preferences. By importing your transaction data to your email service provider, you can identify who your best customers are, who’s about to lapse, or who hasn’t made a purchase yet. You can also round up crucial behavioral metrics through your email newsletters open/click rates.

Create a time-sensitive promotion that relates to customers’ interests. Offer a discount on the same category of items that they bought in the week before. Living Social frequently uses expiring deals in their email automations, emphasizing how little time is left to snag the savings. They could take it a step further by offering personalized recommendations based on users’ browsing behavior.

You can shoot videos in BombBomb's app, upload pre-created videos, or pull in YouTube videos, then send them out as email newsletters with text and other details you want. Then, your contacts can reply with video messages of their own, recording a new video email online and sending it back to you through BombBomb. It sounds crazy, but might be the way to break up the monotony of text emails and get your contacts' attention.
I’ve always been a mailchimp user myself, and I have to say I really like their UI but I’m always open to new options. I’ve dabbled in a couple of the other email marketing providers like Pure360 – but find them so clunky and annoying to use (despite them looking really pretty and having great templates) that I always end up going back to good old mailchimp. I haven’t used GetResponse yet, I’ll give their free trial a shot :)

Hung goes on to explain that after deciding on a theme it’s all about forming the content. Saying, “Then I work to draft the content of the email campaign. Afterward, I speak to developers and designers regarding assets required to create the campaign, as well as changes on our platform if the newsletter will lead users to our site to perform specific actions”.
1. Excerpt Content and Link to the Full Version: If you are including a column or article, always simply include an excerpt or "tease" within your email newsletter and then link to the full article or column on your website. Not only does this drive valuable page impressions to your website, but it also avoids your email newsletter being flagged as spam instead of going to the inbox because of a questionable word usage in your full content.
One of the most common questions that people who are new to email marketing typically have is whether their email marketing program should feature a newsletter or a direct sales email … or even a hybrid of both. Of course, the most effective email marketing programs will contain a combination of both types of emails. However, it's also important to take the time to think through what the difference between an email newsletter and a direct sales email is. With the information that you gained in the previous chapter about the different types of email marketing, their users and the types of information contained in them, you'll then be able to read this section and begin to visualize what your email marketing program should look like.
