This Belgian newsletter provider do have a free plan for up to 1,000 contacts, with a pretty good level of access to different features, but there’s a lot that needs to be improved. For one, both their templates and editor are extremely outdated (ever seen an email that looks like it’s been put together in Microsoft Word? Then you get the picture). The reporting on the free plan is also a little scant – you won’t get data on opens, clicks, or contact activity. And their navigation is a bit clunky. In general, YMLP feels like a bit of a dinosaur compared to the other more modern-looking and feature-rich tools. It’s not one of the free email marketing software we’d recommend.
Newsletters are also a great tool for internal communications. This one from Discovery Creative uses recurring columns so that employees know what to expect in each edition, making the email easier to navigate. Doing this through Campaign Monitor is actually really simple—using the drag-and-drop email builder, you can present information in a compelling and engaging way that doesn’t feel like you’re info-dumping on people who might feel they already know the premise behind the story in each column.
Wow such a detailed review! I have tried MailChimp before and I found it too expensive. After that i’ve signed up to Mailerlite and got hooked. It’s either free or cheapish depending on your subscribers’ lists. With other email software providers, you’d need to make an investment even if you’re running a small shop or a blog. And let’s be honest, not everyone of us can afford it :)
Scope, created by Litmus lets you scope an email from inside. The tool beautifully displays the desktop view alongside an actual mobile screenshot. The sleek code inspector enables viewing email source code, decode and clean up the HTML. Scope, created by Litmus lets you scope an email from inside. GetResponse isn’t nearly as easy to use out of the gate as MailChimp and requires some learning to ensure you’re getting as much out of the platform as possible. This can be especially frustrating for beginners who want to ramp up quickly. However, if you’re more experienced, GetResponse should be easy to master thanks to extensive resources like a comprehensive article database, FAQs, research white papers, and courses on optimizing your experience. And if you get stuck, GetResponse offers both email support and live chat options to keep you out of the marketing weeds — for all of its customers.
In 2009 Return Path reported nearly 30% of commercial emails sent to users did not reach the inbox; in the same year Merkle reported a lack of relevance was the biggest reason users decided to opt-out of emails. With recipients able to dictate what email they chose to receive and given the power to block those they didn’t want, email started to evolve as a pull rather than a push strategy.

He goes on to say, “I will focus on how we curate “A-Ha” moments – throughout the month, we will store fresh industry reports & insightful infographics into a Dropbox folder. Every last Thursday of the month, we will take a look at this folder to see what’s our theme for this month. Next, we will curate a newsletter tapping on 3 to 5 stories that offer a blend of industry insight, data, news, and our own case studies. Sometimes, we will mix in a commercial call-to-action but most of the time, our newsletter is purely educational in nature”.

I’m not happy at all with MailChimp. Has anyone found the same problems with MailChimp as I have? I find that many of my list members unsubscribe from my list daily. I know these people ands contact them and they say they have not unsubscribed. twice I even found my own email taken off the list. When I look into the MailChimp list Spam is the reason for the person’s unsubscription. Over the years I’ve been on MailChimp I’ve contacted support and I’ve done everything I can but nothing has changed. I’m now looking to move to another company.
If you were to discover a marketing channel that would allow your business to earn back $38 for every $1 invested in it, what would you do? The reality is that you probably don’t have to imagine. Chances are that your business already uses it. Email marketing has an average ROI of 3,800%, firmly setting it apart as the single most sound marketing-investment channel available. That doesn’t necessarily mean that every business is using it as effectively as it could be. After all, if the average ROI for email campaigns is 3,800%, then that leaves a lot of room for businesses to outperform and underperform, which means that the competition, when it comes to email marketing, is decidedly fierce.
With the exception of their email templates (which aren’t the most inspiring), everything about Constant Contact is generally quite good. Unlike other email marketing tools, there are no bells or whistles with Constant Contact. You’re probably not going to be blown away by any of their features, but equally, there’s nothing too underwhelming either.
