While this is mostly just a legacy feature from pre-Zapier times, the native integrations can enable connections that are not possible on Zapier. Our recommendation would be to search on Zapier for the tools that you currently use, and if they’re all on there, choose one of the email marketing tools above that provides the most triggers and actions.

Display advertising conveys its advertising message visually using text, logos, animations, videos, photographs, or other graphics. Display advertisers frequently target users with particular traits to increase the ads' effect. Online advertisers (typically through their ad servers) often use cookies, which are unique identifiers of specific computers, to decide which ads to serve to a particular consumer. Cookies can track whether a user left a page without buying anything, so the advertiser can later retarget the user with ads from the site the user visited.[25]
Many laws specifically regulate the ways online ads are delivered. For example, online advertising delivered via email is more regulated than the same ad content delivered via banner ads. Among other restrictions, the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 requires that any commercial email provide an opt-out mechanism.[108] Similarly, mobile advertising is governed by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA), which (among other restrictions) requires user opt-in before sending advertising via text messaging.
According to a study (PDF) published in the Journal of Consumer Research, people shy away from single option offers. However, when presented with multiple options, we are more likely to make a purchase decision on the spot (about 3x more likely in fact according the research). For this reason you want to consider giving people multiple options to optin for your offers. For example, here’s how I do it on our free course widget: Here’s another (perhaps even more effective) example from Michael Hyatt’s website. What I like about how Michael does it here is the fact that he truly give your two choices, not just two calls to action. One choice will sign-up immediately. The other will take you to a landing page where you can learn a little more and then optin there. Very smart, copy this on your own website.

The above template is partially based on the “Break Through Email” system that’s been used to generate millions of dollars in sales for it’s founder, as well as his students of the course. The format is a bit different but it’s a good starting point to help you get results. To setup the landing page, you can use one of the recommended tools above like Lead Pages, or Unbounce, or Instapage. There’s also plenty of free HTML templates online you can download. Cold Email Case Study Years ago, I used cold email campaigns to generate leads via… surveys. Yes, I was obnoxious (and scrappy enough) to email strangers — but I did it out of love! (or ignorance haha) I knew a lot less about how to be an effective marketer back then, but I was willing to try just about anything without assuming “oh that just wouldn’t work.” So, when I was working on building a previous company, I sent an email to several thousand restaurant owners with a link to fill out a 5 question Google survey. That campaign received a response rate just over 1%. I sent the campaign just to collect some research data for a whitepaper I was writing at the time on how weather and other factors affect restaurant sales. About 2 years later, I ran a similar experiment, emailing business owner (with no personalization or any strategic thought in how to target it) and received relatively the same response rate. Keep in mind, in both of these situations, I was taking value rather than giving it (but still getting results!). If you try this strategy and offer something for free THAT IS VALUABLE and to a TARGETED group of people (as you should, otherwise you’re just spamming), you can expect to see a much higher response rate. However, I urge you not to abuse this. Otherwise you’ll poison the well for other companies and hurt your own brand.
Haven’t used email marketing as much as I should. Previously, we tried using ImnicaMail because of their pricing but it was as good as not having an email marketing campaign; all our mail was sent to spam (since they did not manage their customers’ list for spam). Thought email marketing wasn’t effective until I found out our emails were being sent to the spam box. Learnt my lesson there.

For starters, don’t send spam. Spamming your email subscribers is an ineffective email marketing strategy because it won’t lead to increased sales or favorable brand recognition and it can destroy your company’s reputation. Consider someone providing you with their email address similar to them inviting you into their home. The last thing you want to do is inundate them with spam or misleading messages and disrespect them in their own home.
It makes sense: the people who visit your blog post or web page are looking for something specific, so your CTA needs to meet those unique needs. For instance, if you’ve got a ton of traffic visiting your “List-Building Strategy” blog article, why not entice those people to subscribe to your email list by including a simple CTA like this: “Click here to download a free list-building toolkit.”
What we liked: SendInBlue’s prices are hard to beat, with their lowest plan starting at $25/month for up to 40,000 subscribers. And the fact that you get so much for the little you pay is incredible. For instance, we love that you can send transactional emails (invoices, password resets) straight from the tool. Automations are also pretty advanced, with options to build campaigns based on email clicks, opens, and web visits.

3. I’m a stickler for free stuff, and Noah Kagan’s SumoMe suite of free subscription tools are awesome. It’s very easy to add a smart pop-up or slide-in to your page, and “Leads” add-on is absolutely amazing! Use it to add content upgrade incentives into your post in order to gain email subscribers. Brian Dean does it on his blog with LeadPages on his site, but SumoMe Leads is a great, more cost effective way of achieving the same thing.


At least twice in the article (once in the beginning and once at the end) you should include a call to action to download some sort of bonus / upgrade that goes with the guest post. For example, it can be a checklist, a free report, a template — it can even be a spiced up PDF version of the article. For this reason, it is important that you keep each visitor coming back. How can this be achieved? Well, it is quite simple. All you need is to get them to provide you with their email with the help of a popup notification. There are many online tools that can help you with this task, but there is one that stands-out for its innovative approach: SumoMe.
With the exception of their email templates (which aren’t the most inspiring), everything about Constant Contact is generally quite good. Unlike other email marketing tools, there are no bells or whistles with Constant Contact. You’re probably not going to be blown away by any of their features, but equally, there’s nothing too underwhelming either.
One of the downsides of email marketing is that you are only able to reach the contacts that you already have. However, you can use social media to help you grow your email marketing list so that you have an even larger audience for your holiday sales. One way to do this is to promote your opt-in offers across your social media profiles. Consider offering some sort of incentive for joining your email list, such as a special coupon code.

You can also simply invite your website visitors to join your email list. Create a call-to-action in the side bar of your website with a space for visitors to enter their email address. To encourage your subscribers to share your email content with others, you may also want to add social share buttons to your email marketing messages. This will help you grow your email marketing list by getting your email content in front of new consumers.

Not only that, you’ll also be able to install the signup forms anywhere on your blog without any hassle. It comes with easy to edit templates so you don’t need to worry about the designs. What I also love about OptinSkin is it complete with an analytics which you will be able to split test and optimize on the best sign up form.
As I mentioned in step 1 I prefer using AWeber to manage my campaigns. I’ve used the AWeber platform for all of my list building for nearly a decade now and still love it. When it comes to opt-in templates you’ll find dozens to choose from there and every one of them is customizable to fit your site’s color theme. Plus the AWeber opt-in designer, as well as their other tools, are super easy and fast to use.

It is used for adding scrolling header bar to your website. It works almost on any website without giving much importance to the content management system behind it. It is highly customizable as the admin interface allows you to change the text, colors, and placement of the bars. It even has advanced targeting option so that you can make the bar visible to certain visitors only.
Where they can improve: Autoresponders are on the basic side – just enough to set up the most simple triggered campaigns. It doesn’t come with a huge template range, either (and none on the free plan), so you’ll probably need to use their visual editor to create your own. Finally, it doesn’t offer a spam or design testing feature – if you wanted these, they’d need to be performed externally.

For example let’s assume that you are selling online courses and you run an email marketing campaign using the targeted list from your blog. In the email you send out make sure that the subscriber can read everything they need about the course within the email and they only need to go to the website to make a purchase or read more reviews or further details.


And finally if you want to build optin forms that you can integrate with your website and which also integrates with GoToWebinar then I use and recommend LeadPages – and as a bonus they have their feature of LeadBoxes which can be used to enable people to opt in for your lead magnet e.g. a special report from within an article or blog post or on the side bar of your site.
