Wow such a detailed review! I have tried MailChimp before and I found it too expensive. After that i’ve signed up to Mailerlite and got hooked. It’s either free or cheapish depending on your subscribers’ lists. With other email software providers, you’d need to make an investment even if you’re running a small shop or a blog. And let’s be honest, not everyone of us can afford it :)

1. Easily the number one most effective tool for growing my email list so far has been Twitter lead generation cards. They’re a little new (well new-ish), so a lot of people aren’t using them. I think that’s been helping. There’s a novelty factor right now. People want to see what happens when they click the button (which of course instantly places your email address, name, and Twitter username into my Mailchimp email list). While this is mostly just a legacy feature from pre-Zapier times, the native integrations can enable connections that are not possible on Zapier. A call to action (CTA) is a word or phrase that encourages readers and subscribers to do something specific. Examples of calls to action include “subscribe”, “shop now”, “get the free ebook”. You use CTAs on email signup forms, landing pages, in email newsletters, and more. When someone does what you want as a result of your call to action, that’s called a conversion. In email marketing, a conversion often means following a link in a email newsletter to visit another resource.
