Nah, you should work backwards: Start looking for the “noisiest” people on social media; the ones who have posted written or video reviews, tweets about how much they like your product, and of course, those who leverage Instagram. It’s important to check all social media because these potential partners may have, say, posted on Facebook about you but haven’t bothered to post on Instagram specifically. Then, after you’ve compiled a list, cross-reference their names/emails with your customer database. Got a match? That person is a prime candidate to reach out to, if they meet the criteria above that we’ve already established.

Paying to get men to look at pictures of models doesn’t seem like much of a challenge. And if it doesn’t align with your core values then isn’t that admitting that the end justifies the means? Given your success and already recognizable name why not just start clean, avoid alienating many Instagramers with the bait and switch and low hanging fruit tactic? Think you got bad advice on this one.
Alternatively, to find niche affiliate programs, a basic Google search will suffice. Then simply sign up with the individual affiliate programs you like the look of and take it from there. There is no limit to how many affiliate programs you can sign up with, but make sure the products you are going to promote are high quality. I’ve googled and googled and cannot seem to find out how random girls just blow up on Instagram. I HONESTLY do not care about the numbers of followers, I just want to see my business grow and it eats at me how I cannot find “the secret”; because I know there is one…. How does a girl start her blog and 6 months after her launch she has over 1,000,000 page views. They say… Great taste but I call bullshit. On the other hand this experiment could be helpful if taken with a large grain of salt – I can see how this can inspire marketing ideas for consumer /lifestyle brands. I’ll be looking into some of the things you mentioned for a consumer client of mine who’s demographic is perfectly in the Instagram space. Minus the bikini models though – that’s just not my style 😉
With the maturing of the affiliate marketing industry, we are witnessing the emergence of influencers. These could be gurus who conduct programs in affiliate marketing. Or they could be bloggers who specialize in writing about affiliate marketing. Or they could be affiliate marketers who openly share their secrets of success. If some of these influencers put in a good word for you, their credibility could end up giving you nice inroads into the affiliate marketing community.
I personally use Reward Style, which is a little more exclusive (there’s an application process involved). It’s more fashion based, which is not as ideal for me, and as thus I’ve recently signed up for Link Share (Rakukaten) as well. To give you an idea, I’m making about $100 per month (which is really not a lot) with Reward Style – meaning blog visitors are spending about $1500-2000 through affiliate links. I only link about 20% of my links through them though, since a lot of the home decor / baby items I share on my blog aren’t part of the Reward Style program. Once I’ve had some experience with other affiliate programs and how well they work for a lifestyle blogger like myself, I’ll make sure to update this post.
