The most effective ways to do this are either by negotiating a hybrid payout with a flat fee or by offering products in exchange for the posts, both often accompanied with an appealing commission rate. Besides the money or product received for the feature, the commission rate that the influencer is also receiving can potentially last as long as the posts remain visible to their viewers. Often, the commission structure has served as even more motivation for them to push the products and brand more with their followers and subscribers. It’s a win-win situation—an increase in sales and brand awareness for the advertiser and an additional source of income for the influencer.
To succeed in affiliate marketing, a publisher needs to deploy thousands of links in multiple places to increase the number of clicks and conversions. On IG, the only place to put a hyperlink is in one’s bio. Links anywhere else are not clickable, for example, links in posts. Many affiliates include links in the hopes that people will copy and paste them into their browsers, but that’s a terrible strategy. So, what is an affiliate marketer to do?
Lets's say that only 15 people and I really low ball this will go and buy product that you promote…you need to have really bad descriptopn and you don't know strategy or any methods to increase those sales…but ok 15 people and your commison is $10 Dollars per sale so it means you've just made $150 Dollars Working Less than an Hour…or Ok you've worked 1 hour to set up an account, create desctipron and posts. $150 dollars working 1 hour!
To give you an idea of what sort of online presence will start to see sponsored content, I got my first Instagram collaboration request at around 5K followers (about 3 months in) and my first blog collaboration request after around two months (about 2,000 page views per month). Those were just for free product but it was still super exciting to get that first traction. My first paid collaboration was at around 14K on Instagram (about 7 months in) and on my blog at the 3 month mark (about 4,000 page views per month). Both of these were for around $100 and I only had a handful of collaborations per month (blog and Instagram combined) for a few months after those first paid gigs. My rates increased as I grew, of course, but my first full year of (Insta)blogging was definitely at an hourly rate well below minimum wage. The potential for earning decent money on blogging and Instagram is definitely there, it just takes a lot of time and effort before you see any return on investment, so to speak.
Not too long ago, Instagram added a “story” function to their platform to compete with Snapchat. It has since exploded in popularity and continues to keep thousands of people glued to their phones on a daily basis. Why not take advantage of this feature with the Instagram influencers in your affiliate program? Story posts take minimum effort and there’s a good chance that the influencer will be happy to throw some of these in for you for free if you’re already running a campaign with them.
I personally use Reward Style, which is a little more exclusive (there’s an application process involved). It’s more fashion based, which is not as ideal for me, and as thus I’ve recently signed up for Link Share (Rakukaten) as well. To give you an idea, I’m making about $100 per month (which is really not a lot) with Reward Style – meaning blog visitors are spending about $1500-2000 through affiliate links. I only link about 20% of my links through them though, since a lot of the home decor / baby items I share on my blog aren’t part of the Reward Style program. Once I’ve had some experience with other affiliate programs and how well they work for a lifestyle blogger like myself, I’ll make sure to update this post.
Choose either an existing post and select Edit, or create a new post. Click on the image where you would like to add a shoppable tag. Enter the name of the product you would like to tag, and then select it as it appears in the search box. You can drag the tag around the screen to ensure it doesn’t block too much of the image. Once finished, Preview the image, and then select Done > Share.
Many affiliate marketers direct traffic to a landing page, i.e., a one-page website for e-commerce, event/webinar registration, and list building. I discuss landing page builders in this post. I use a landing page to grow my email list. I offer a list of top and profitable WordPress affiliate programs. When someone subscribes, he or she enters my marketing funnel. A marketing funnel is a process of turning leads into buyers, customers, and clients as illustrated below. Search for “marketing funnel” to explore variations.
Travel blogger @Anna Everywhere has an Instagram full of stunning photo shoots in amazing locations around the world. She is incredibly stylish, and many people send her messages asking where she buys her clothes, so to help with that - even though this is not the focus point of the picture, she will include a link to the product below the image. The image below is from Waikiki, and she mentions her bikini after everything she has to say about the location. She also doesn’t link to products in every single post that she does.
I don’t have experience with all that many influencer networks so I can’t give a comprehensive review or even list them all. Those that I’ve got decent to good experience with are Popular Pays (my favourite Instagram influencer app and where I got my very first paid gig last summer, with one of my favourite brands no less), Social Fabric (although most of their gigs are US only and they’re vigilant about that), Muse Find and Revfluence. I also signed up for the following networks, but haven’t gotten much (or even any) work through them: Collabor8, Collectively, IZEA, Linqia, Nichify, and TapInfluence. Some of these don’t pay well versus others I just haven’t been contacted much, which could be because I’m based in Canada and a lot of these influencer networks focus on US brands who want US influencers (even though my reach in the US is about the same as fellow US-based mom bloggers).
British celebrity chef and restaurateur, Jamie Oliver has over 6.2 million followers on Instagram, making him one of the most popular food influencers. Jamie Oliver is popular for his chain of restaurants, his TV shows, and his cookbooks. His Instagram is full of delicious-looking pictures of food as well as some occasional personal photographs that he adds.
Beyonce fell from the second spot to the fourth on the list of Instagram accounts with the most followers. The extremely popular American singer currently has 109 million followers. Her posts have high engagement, with most posts bringing in over a million likes and countless comments. Beyonce normally posts pictures of herself, also including her family at times. She famously used her Instagram platform to reveal that she was pregnant with twins with husband Jay Z, which made headlines worldwide.
One thing I found odd with Clickbank is that to register, your IP address needs to match the country of the home address you are inputting. If you are traveling around, this makes it hard to register for an account. My application was immediately denied because although my home address is in Canada, my IP was coming from Europe as I was currently traveling when I applied for Clickbank.
It’s highly advisable when working with influencers in your affiliate program to work out an agreement with them where they get some free product and create their own content for their feed featuring your product. Followers are a lot more likely to engage with a sponsored post that has a personal touch attached to it. The ultimate reason we work with influencers in the first place is because they influence people to buy certain products. There’s no better way to do this than with a personalized post consisting of product you gave to them.
Nordstrom Rack’s recent partnership with Shopping Links is an outstanding example how influencer marketing can be coupled with affiliate marketing to drive not only brand awareness but also traffic and sales. By utilizing the Shopping Links Influencer marketplace, Nordstrom Rack was able to simplify the process of identifying and gifting influencers at scale. Individually-selected Influencers created a series of social media posts supported with blog posts to showcase Nordstrom Rack’s products to more than 500,000 potential customers.
Include relevant information about the photograph and ask a question to your followers. This is important to drive engagement to your posts and it gives people the information they are looking for. Geo-tagging can help when customers want to find out where something is. A blogger utilising geo-tagging might include where they are in the photograph, while brands should geo-tag store locations to make it easier for people to find.
As an affiliate manager, the evolution of influencers in the performance marketing space is a trend I have kept a close eye on. Early on, I saw the value of content affiliates, but remained a minority among my peers. Now, the tide has changed. Influencer marketing has infiltrated the affiliate marketing world. Merchants see the value of influencers’ reviews for conversions and requests for affiliate managers to recruit influencers have grown exponentially. Affiliate managers now spend much of their time diligently crafting custom emails with the hopes of recruiting the next top performing influencer. However, many of these hours are wasted because of one common mistake. Many managers overlook the first essential step in the recruitment process: creating the prospect list. An unqualified list results in failure, no matter how brilliant your recruitment outreach.
Whilst most influencer networks focus on social media, there are some that also have heavy focus on blog. Social Fabric is the only blog influencer platform I have experience with and their rates are fixed. This was great in the beginning as I actually got a few blog gigs that paid a little more than what brands who e-mailed me were offering. If I get the chance to research more in depth which platforms do blog and how they pay, I’ll make sure to update this post.
When you are posting a photo make sure you use relevant tags. Including hashtags means more engagement and likes. To find the best tags for your content you need to research your audience to find out what hashtags they are using on their posts. Posting the most popular tags won’t necessarily help you in the long run. For example, a travel blogger should have travel related tags. If they were to include a hashtag about vitamins it wouldn’t necessarily fit with their content. If you include a hashtag that doesn’t fit with your niche, people will be less likely to engage with you.
I told them to send me their pictures….and I had to do this at the beginning…I created post with their image and they paid me for this. And now every two weeks I create for them sponsored post. I can't tell how much they are paying me because it's in our agreement. I can tell you that if your Instagram account has between 2k to 8k followers and your post usually have good engagement Rate between 200 to 400 likes per post you can easily charge from $80 to $180 Dollars per post and it of course depend on your Niche.
