I use an auto-response sequence through MailerLite, a top-rated email marketing service and a fantastic alternative to MailChimp. You could send new subscribers three to five automated emails over a period of weeks/months and include affiliate links where applicable. Additionally, I see many marketers using landing page tools like Leadpages and Instapage to get subscribers and sales.
Engage with your followers: You cannot expect all interaction to come directly to you. Make time every single day to engage with your followers or anyone involved in your industry by commenting on and liking images. If you communicate with authentic content, people will be drawn to check out your account and, hopefully, join your loyal rank of followers.

Do a little google sleuthing to find their PR / media contact. Sometimes it’s as easy as a media enquiries e-mail address on the brand’s contact page, but more often than not brands make you work for it. I usually google “pr / media / press [at ] company [dot ] com” to see if the e-mail address shows up and will sometimes get lucky this way. Sometimes I’ll comment on a brand’s latest Instagram post with a note saying I sent them a DM (since brand accounts are usually handled by their social media manager, who either also handles collaborations or works closely with the PR department that does). Sometimes I get a media contact through a blogger friend. There are lots of ways to find the right e-mail address and, if all else fails, you can always try contacting the general help desk to see if they’re able to give you the right contact.
With the boom in subscription boxes, unboxing videos have become quite popular. If your audience spends a lot of time on YouTube, then partner with an influencer who can showcase your product. The benefit of influencer marketing is how personal it is. Think about how powerful your campaign will be when followers feel as though they’re experiencing the unboxing along with the influencer. They’ll likely be receptive to clicking the link the influencer shares in order to learn more about you and your products.

A common issue with Instagram influencers is finding a way to get customers to click on affiliate links. It’s common to see captions include “link in the bio,” but this is an extra step that sometimes customers don’t take. Thus, there could be sales that came from this influencer that they’re not getting credit for. This is bad for the influencer because they’re losing out on commissions and this is bad for the brand because you’re not able to properly track the success of their campaigns. A Direct Message on Instagram is only slightly better. It can get lost in the mix of other DMs, and it’s often a crap shoot as to whether they will even read it since if they don’t follow you on Instagram, your DM will show up as a “message request” in their inbox. Technically this should go before #7 and #8 because you need to figure out your rates before you can do sponsored content. That said, most sponsored content starts out as free gifting, which means you don’t actually need to know rates in the beginning since you’ll just be getting free product in exchange for your Instagram and blog posts. I also wanted to talk about sponsored content and influencer networks before I get into rates because I’ve had two very different experiences with the two when it comes to how much they pay.

On the other hand this experiment could be helpful if taken with a large grain of salt – I can see how this can inspire marketing ideas for consumer /lifestyle brands. I’ll be looking into some of the things you mentioned for a consumer client of mine who’s demographic is perfectly in the Instagram space. While there’s no need to go over-board and nit-pick every single post, scrolling through and reading the comments on a few dozen will give you a good sense of whether this Influencer is right for your business.
