Many Instagrammers use shortened link services such as Hootsuite (Ow.ly) and Bitly (Bit.ly). While shortened links are practical to use in posts and on other networks, I don’t recommend using one in your bio unless it’s consistent with everything else. Also, it helps if the link is customized or branded. For instance, an account about women’s shoes uses bit.ly/sixinchheels, which would be acceptable.
It’s easy to get caught up in numbers when creating an influencer recruitment list. Seeing a number with the magical “k” after it, representing 10,000’s of eyes versus hundreds, is enough to make a manager salivate while calculating that 3% conversion to revenue. However, when recruiting influencers to affiliate marketing, bigger is not always better. The power of the micro-influencer, an influencer with less than 10,000 followers, is one you want to harness for your program. In my experience, the micro-influencer outperforms the mega influencer time and time again. I am not alone in this discovery. HelloSociety says engagement rates are 60% higher with micro versus mega influencers. in addition to higher engagement with your brand, you will also have higher response rates on your outreach with micro influencers. Smaller influencers are more likely to participate in affiliate marketing and listen to recommendations that translate to more sales.”

Before you can even begin to think about monetizing your blog or social media, you’ll need to grow your online presence. Get readers to your blog and followers to your social media accounts. I wrote up a detailed post on how to start and grow a lifestyle blog here and how to grow your Instagram account here. If you’re looking at a different type of blog or a different social media platform, a lot of what I wrote would probably still apply but I would also google around to see the best ways to grow a blog in your niche and any other social media accounts you’re focusing on.

Another great way to get the most out of Instagram influencers in your affiliate program is to host a product giveaway with them. Influencers love running giveaways because they receive excellent engagement from them and gain a lot of new followers in the process. When you structure the giveaway with the influencer you do want to make sure that it’s not one sided and you get some new followers for your social media accounts as well. At the end of the day, it’s a great way to get some new followers and get some great marketing out there for the cost of your product, which is usually a brand’s preferred currency.
I told them to send me their pictures….and I had to do this at the beginning…I created post with their image and they paid me for this. And now every two weeks I create for them sponsored post. I can't tell how much they are paying me because it's in our agreement. I can tell you that if your Instagram account has between 2k to 8k followers and your post usually have good engagement Rate between 200 to 400 likes per post you can easily charge from $80 to $180 Dollars per post and it of course depend on your Niche.
Shopping Links worked with the team at Pepperjam to identify a number of influencers who met not only the traffic requirements but were the right fit in terms of audience and brand alignment – all within Nordstrom Rack’s affiliate marketing budget. A total of three fashion and lifestyle influencers provided increased awareness, traffic and sales together with a boost in brand recognition – without the need for more costly traditional advertising methods.
Affiliate marketing can be a great way to earn money through your blog, especially once your traffic picks up. If you’re new to this concept, it’s essentially a custom URL with a unique tracking code in it. If someone purchases something through your affiliate link, you’ll earn a commission (typically between 5-15%). And it usually doesn’t have to be the specific item you linked. Most of these affiliate programs will give you a commission if someone purchased anything from a particular site within a specific time window after the click through. The great thing about programs such as Amazon Associates, Reward Style, Shop Style and Link Share, is they’re easy to setup and start using and there is no risk involved – worst case scenario you don’t make any money but best case you’ll make a nice chunk of change without anything other than creating a custom link for the product you’re planning on linking anyway. Most will also accept all bloggers regardless of page views. I’m not going to go into too much detail about affiliate marketing, since there’s a ton of good information online already. You can read a great in-depth article about affiliate marketing for bloggers here.
This is one of the best ways for influencers to get their traffic to convert to sales. If your Instagram is full of beautiful lifestyle images, that people are curious about, then by letting them know they can shop these items is key. @sheshopped has done this on her Instagram and the page on her website has all of her shoppable Instagram photos, and when you click on one, you are given some information on it, and you can click through to the store.
This was an awesome post, but your comment about leveraging other entrepreneurial accounts I think is spot on. Having @BussinessPeopleInc (64k followers) or accounts like that post a quote of yours or something will probably reach your target demo much more effectively than trying to replicate accounts like Dan B’s. I’m sure you know this by now though. Great blog filled with invaluable information. Keep it coming brother.

Here are some more influencer networks that I have absolutely no experience with but that I’ve found online and are recommended by other bloggers, in alphabetical order (*): Acorn Influence, Activate by Bloglovin’, AdvoWire, BlogHer, Blog Meets Brand, BrandBacker, Clever, Content BLVD, Everywhere Agency, Experticity, Famebit, Fitfluencial, Hypetap, Influence Central, Influincity, Instabrand, Massive Sway, Megan Media, Network Niche, NeoReach, One2One Network, Pollinate Media, She Knows Media, She Speaks, Snapfluence, Speakr, Sway Group,  The Shelf Network, and Tribe Group.
If you want to target a specific group of people instead of your entire audience, then use affiliate marketing. If you’re launching a new product feature or an entirely new product that power users will be receptive to, use affiliate marketing to target specific sites that these power users spend time on. Instead of marketing to everyone, you speak to the people most likely to use your product.
An influencer can also choose to shorten the non-linkable URL that they include in their Instagram post by using bit.ly. If we “bit.ly” this link to AP’s blog, www.accelerationpartners.com/blog, it would look like http://bit.ly/1SwgojI. The affiliate simply inputs their affiliate link into a link shortener tool to get the shortened link. The Instagram follower would then copy/paste this link into their browser which would redirect them through an affiliate link to the merchants site.
Whatever you showcase on your blog or Instagram – be it good photography, writing, interior design, fashion styling – there may be people who are interested in hiring you for these skills and not for you to promote anything on your channels. I’ve worked with several brands on a photography basis (I photograph their content for them without necessarily posting anything to my Instagram or blog) and I’ve also been hired to makeover a brand’s Instagram account. These sort of opportunities usually come to you but you can also try actively reaching out to brands who you think you would be a good fit for.
If you have a special offer or want to promote specific products or get your audience excited about an upcoming launch or campaign, use influencer marketing. Because influencers are in front of your target audience, the influence they have over their followers and the established trust have the potential to drive a great deal of awareness to your brand. The key to successful influencer marketing is to use influencers who believe in your product and don’t promote products that compete with it.
Hi Breno! Thanks for reading my post. How to create engaging content for influencers is a great idea for a post all on its own! It’s a tough line to walk because, of course, you want your post to translate to sales, but you also don’t want people to immediately shut off and scroll past you because they know your post is an ad. Thus, my short answer would be to work on including some sort of call to action within the photo. Make the photo engaging and encourage people to like and/or comment. Perhaps some sort of contest? Keep us posted on how it goes and what you decide to do. Cheers!
