Sometimes it’s as easy as a media enquiries e-mail address on the brand’s contact page, but more often than not brands make you work for it. I usually google “pr / media / press [at ] company [dot ] com” to see if the e-mail address shows up and will sometimes get lucky this way. Sometimes I’ll comment on a brand’s latest Instagram post with a note saying I sent them a DM (since brand accounts are usually handled by their social media manager, who either also handles collaborations or works closely with the PR department that does). Sometimes I get a media contact through a blogger friend. There are lots of ways to find the right e-mail address and, if all else fails, you can always try contacting the general help desk to see if they’re able to give you the right contact.

Tip #3 is to consistently post valuable content to your followers. Now valuable content will be different in each niche, but a good rule of thumb is to post inspiring, helpful, informative or motivational pictures and videos at least once a day. If you’re struggling to come with ideas on what to post just go look at what other influencers in your niche are posting, and post similar content. Of course you’ll want to make it unique, but looking at other accounts is a good way to figure out what type of posts the people in your niche respond to the most. An important thing for to mention here is to avoid making your account a pitch fest. Of course your goal is to get people to click the links in your bio, but if you make every other post about an offer or a link all your going to do is piss people off, and ultimately lose followers. I’ve found that one promotional post per week is the sweet spot to not piss off your followers, but make sure they know you have an offer out there.
You could also set up a partial flat payment along with your commission payment. Many influencers don’t understand the true power of affiliate marketing and they need someone to guide them. If you can paint a picture on how they can earn so much more money on consistent referrals as opposed to one-time placements you might be able to get a discount on their flat fee.

It’s a tough line to walk because, of course, you want your post to translate to sales, but you also don’t want people to immediately shut off and scroll past you because they know your post is an ad. Thus, my short answer would be to work on including some sort of call to action within the photo. Make the photo engaging and encourage people to like and/or comment. Perhaps some sort of contest?
