According to Forester, Instagram has the highest engagement rate of the many social media platforms. This is precisely why affiliate Instagram marketing via Influencer (aka Influencer Marketing) has become a one billion dollar industry today, and the entire Influencer Marketing segment overall is predicted to become a ten billion dollar industry by 2020.

Influencer recruitment has its challenges but is well worth the effort. Instagram has provided the platform to food influencers over the world to share their food and nutrition enthusiasm with their followers. These food and nutrition based followers range from world renowned chefs to small cafe owners or even regular people who are just inspired to share their food journey and experience, and have as a result gained a following based on their influence. You can find a foodie influencer for every type of eater. Here we’ve compiled some of the top current food and nutrition related Instagram influencers for you.
Pick a Niche – When businesses look for influencers to promote their products, they want someone who has a following made up of people in their niche. Popular niches on Instagram include fashion, health, and fitness, travel and cookery, to name a few. Choose a niche that is relevant to your lifestyle and then post images, and build your audience around this subject. You will then become a valuable influencer to businesses in your particular industry.

If you focus on a niche that has a highly engaged following it is more likely to be successful. @afterpay obsession is one of those affiliates. It is for people who want to shop at stores that offer Afterpay. If a brand has any great promotions, they will let their users know so they can grab the bargain and pay in installments. They have a very active Facebook page but they use their Instagram page to highlight products, but also to encourage brands to work with them.
If all of this has convinced you that you want to start as an affiliate influencer on Instagram, or if you’re a brand and you want to recruit some influencers on an affiliate basis remember some of the key points - make sure that your Instagram profile stands out from the rest, work on developing good relationships with the people you want to work with and make sure you have a strategy and clear expectations that work for you both. This way neither of you will be disappointed and you should be on your way to creating more revenue.

One thing I found odd with Clickbank is that to register, your IP address needs to match the country of the home address you are inputting. If you are traveling around, this makes it hard to register for an account. My application was immediately denied because although my home address is in Canada, my IP was coming from Europe as I was currently traveling when I applied for Clickbank.

Nordstrom Rack’s recent partnership with Shopping Links is an outstanding example how influencer marketing can be coupled with affiliate marketing to drive not only brand awareness but also traffic and sales. By utilizing the Shopping Links Influencer marketplace, Nordstrom Rack was able to simplify the process of identifying and gifting influencers at scale. Individually-selected Influencers created a series of social media posts supported with blog posts to showcase Nordstrom Rack’s products to more than 500,000 potential customers.
Lokalisiere jeglichen Content.
While affiliate marketing has long been driven by a need to gain website clicks, this channel is now quickly evolving into a strategy that cultivates leads from social channels like Instagram and Facebook. Instrumental in this evolution are influencers: as social leaders with the ability to inspire conversions from their loyal followers, they are now forming an integral component of successful affiliate campaigns.
Create an Engaged Community – An engaged community, that comment on, like, and share your posts is key to becoming a successful influencer. To create this type of community you will need to put in the work – constantly and consistently post high-quality images that interest and inspire your audience, ask questions, respond to comments, and become a well-known figure within your niche.

First off lets talk about what DOESN’T WORK, because if you can learn what DOESN’T work first, then you can just spend time looking for all the easy affiliate offerings that WILL WORK for your Instagram following. I teach all of this in my InstaWealth Growth System, so if you want to let me teach it to you STEP-BY-STEP then signup. You’ll be able to watch over 80 easy to follow along video guides. I even update it frequently at no additional cost.

There’s not quite as much consensus online with what is a good rate to charge for a blog post. Some say $100 per 10,000 monthly page views (not uniques) is a good starting point, others create a rate based on the number of hours you put into each post (at least $50 per hour for post creation, $100 per hour for photography). I would say take both of these into consideration. If you have 10,000 monthly page views but spend 10 hours putting each post together, that would be just above minimum wage if you went with the first calculation. That’s hardly worth your time. I would say the minimum you should charge for a lifestyle post with beautiful photography is $200 plus $100 per 10,000 monthly page views. It would surprise me if you can spit out a blog post – photography, editing, writing – in under 4 hours and your time is absolutely worth $50 / hour. That’s just my personal opinion though, coming from a very visual (and time-intensive) lifestyle blog.

Here are some more influencer networks that I have absolutely no experience with but that I’ve found online and are recommended by other bloggers, in alphabetical order (*): Acorn Influence, Activate by Bloglovin’, AdvoWire, BlogHer, Blog Meets Brand, BrandBacker, Clever, Content BLVD, Everywhere Agency, Experticity, Famebit, Fitfluencial, Hypetap, Influence Central, Influincity, Instabrand, Massive Sway, Megan Media, Network Niche, NeoReach, One2One Network, Pollinate Media, She Knows Media, She Speaks, Snapfluence, Speakr, Sway Group,  The Shelf Network, and Tribe Group.
YouTube – The Google Darling does not disappoint. Videos allow for optimal search engine optimization and engagement, a winning combination. In addition, the influencer can easily place affiliate links in the video description and create a CTA requesting followers to click on it. Lastly, YouTube makes it easy to contact the influencer in one step by revealing an email address. Why, thank you YouTube! When a niche YouTube account appears in my search results, a small victory dance ensues.
Coupon codes have always been an effective way to get people to buy something. Influencers like @cassieandrewsstyle has a product photograph, and in the blurb she includes a coupon. If it is an exclusive coupon code, then it has more draw because the discount is better than a normal coupon code. Not all coupon codes require a click to be tracked by an affiliate network, which is great news for these affiliates who want to promote an exclusive code but don’t want to include a link.

Social media - can you remember life before Facebook and Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn? No longer just a place to meet your friends, social media is big business when it comes to advertising and marketing. Ten years ago, social media marketing did not exist; now it has become one of the largest marketing methods to both small and large businesses. As a form of media, it has many different marketing strings to its bow , and one of these is the use of influencers.

The main distinction now between affiliate and influencer marketing is simply the channel itself and the way the influencer is paid. Affiliate marketing sees affiliates paid based on web traffic performance (CPA) while influencer marketing sees influencers often paid flat fees upfront in return for social traffic performance. Brands now have visibility into the same metrics for both strategies and can access indicators of performance and traffic via Google Analytics for web-based publishers and Instagram Insights for social based publishers. Despite these similarities, influencer and affiliate marketing are still referred to as two separate strategies and are often managed by different teams in the same organization.

Like any social media platform, increasing followers, views, engagement, and CTRs are a function of user activity. Posting at least once daily should be your goal. Using hashtags makes your content more discoverable. You should add ten to twenty hashtags to every post without appearing spammy. I have my hashtags ready to copy and paste in a memo on my phone. Check out your competition to understand what hashtags they use and discover the most popular hashtags with a tool like RiteTag. You might also like to read Hootsuite’s The Do’s and Don’ts of How to Use Hashtags and The Complete Instagram Hashtag Guide. Lastly, you might want to buy followers or use marketing automation and bots to attract people to your profile. For differing opinions on these topics, search for “buying IG followers, “IG bots,” and “IG automation.”
Thank you for this amazing post! It has definitely put my mind into set and changed a lot about the way I will post and do things on Instagram. Such a great help! And I did DM you on Instagram. Hoping to hear from you, had a few questions for you there! And another thing…. I love your instagram and blog posts. I have been following for a while now and definitely you are a huge influencer! Thanks again 🙂

As for Instagram, having a business account makes it even easier for brands to contact you but I would personally shy away from switching since there’s a lot of whisper in the blogging world that Instagram will soon make business accounts pay to get their content seen by anyone. If you’re interested in reading more of my thoughts, check out my Instagram growth blog post – point #10).
Once you’re starting to work with brands in a paid capacity, it’s great to have a media kit on hand to send along when requested. A media kit is a document that outlines the key facts and statistics of your blog. From the number of blog readers / social media followers you have, your page views, reader / follower demographics, the types of collaborations you do, and brands you’ve worked with in the past. You’ll also want to include a short bio of yourself / your blog as well as where you can be found online. Jeni, from The Media Maven wrote a detailed post about what you need to include to make a kick-a** media kit.
Earnings are what matter to most affiliates. Our commissions indicate how we are performing, which is why affiliate marketing is also called performance and commissioned-based marketing. You can monitor traffic to your website in which case Google Analytics will do the trick. To learn more about your audience, measure reach, and track engagement, check out Instagram Insights (for business profiles), Hootsuite Analytics, and Iconosquare.
Shopping on Instagram allows brands to add shoppable tags to their images. As you can see from the image above, these tags contain a product’s name and price. However, if Instagrammers click on a tag, extra information about this product will be displayed on their screen. Importantly, and super excitingly for eCommerce stores, a View on Website call to action button will also be displayed with the extra product info. This button will link directly to the product page on the brand’s online shop.
So now you know the 5+ handy ways to make money through Instagram, you’re all set to start building your empire. Whatever avenue you decide to go down, be sure to always keep your personal brand in mind and treat what you do as a business. The more you understand what it is you can offer, the stronger your message will be to potential collaborators!
Lets take a minute and clear up some confusion many people have about affiliate marketing Most people confuse affiliate marketing with  MLM (multi level marketing) also known as pyramid selling or the ponzi schemes. Ponzi schemes generates returns (money) for older investors by acquiring new investors. This is similar to a pyramid scheme in that both are based on using new investors money to pay the older (initial) investors.
Can you boast a solid number of followers? If not, it’s high time to work on it. Stay away from fake followers and bots as they could undermine the genuinity of your Instagram profile and cause a very unpleasant user experience. Your task is to attract dedicated followers who will truly like and trust you. With these quick social media marketing tips in play, you will easily get things done.
And re. the dropping followers if we get a account with lifestyle/luxury posts and start posting tequila related posts do you think we’d get just as much dropped followers or do you think we should wait to find a account specifically about alcohol? Although those seem hard to find even if we reach out to one in that niche it’ll most likely be about a existing brand
First, you must recognize that there are much better social media networks than Instagram for affiliate marketing, for example, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. Therefore, you might abandon IG altogether. Secondly, if you want to play on IG, you must accept its limitations and focus on what is available (the bio section). Four strategies accompany the all-important bio link.
Natalie Mortimer and Holly Erickson are the women behind The Modern Proper. Currently with over 90k followers, they have gained much popularity after they were finalists for Saveur’s Best Home-Cooked Food Blog in 2016. They have been praised for their modern approach at preparing simple yet delicious meals, which is very well presented in their Instagram posts.
Finally it’s possible to find out what your audience wants. There’s no need to go outside and ask pedestrians for their opinion. With a recently launched interactive poll sticker, which is part of the Instagram Stories, it’s way easier. Want to collect feedback on the promoted product or gather more ideas from the audience? Create a survey in one tap! Ask a question and give two answers to choose from. Check out the statistics to see the votes. The poll will last for 24 hours. If needed, fine-tune your affiliate marketing campaign according to the results obtained.

And another big reason? Cost. Most of the big Influencers work solely on a pay-per-post model, where companies have to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars for a single Instagram post. Sure, maybe you’re Pepsi and you have that sort of spend. But we’re assuming most of you a) don’t want to spend anywhere near that much, and b) want to work with Influencers on a traditional affiliate marketing model (commission on sale). It goes without saying, it’s much more likely that micro-influencers will work on this model.
