Of course, there is always an exception, and that exception is YouTube, Google’s social media darling. While I still prefer to work with influencers who have both a website AND a social media channel, I will take YouTube-only influencers. The in-depth content, high engagement and optimization potential for videos allow them to be an excellent standalone for affiliate marketing. The influencer below does not have a blog but remains a top performer due to niche and high-quality content.

Once you reach a certain level of growth, the more you’re going to be inundated with e-mails and there may come a point in time when you feel like you’re spending all of your time answering e-mails rather than doing any actual work that brands want to hire you for. This is where a talent agency can help you. They can handle all of the nitty gritty for you – answer e-mails, negotiating rates, creating a content schedule for you, etc. They’ll also reach out to brands and PR firms on your behalf to pitch you for potential collaborations. In return, they take a cut of each of your collaborations (industry standard in North America is around 15-25%). On top of that cut, you will have to give up a lot of control that you might have a hard time doing and most will have you sign exclusively for a certain period of time. Definitely weigh the pros and cons for your particular situation. Having a firm handle all the paperwork and media management for you frees you up to do what you do best – create beautiful content – and that can be very liberating for some bloggers and influencers.

Once you’re starting to work with brands in a paid capacity, it’s great to have a media kit on hand to send along when requested. A media kit is a document that outlines the key facts and statistics of your blog. From the number of blog readers / social media followers you have, your page views, reader / follower demographics, the types of collaborations you do, and brands you’ve worked with in the past. You’ll also want to include a short bio of yourself / your blog as well as where you can be found online. Hi Breno! Thanks for reading my post. How to create engaging content for influencers is a great idea for a post all on its own! It’s a tough line to walk because, of course, you want your post to translate to sales, but you also don’t want people to immediately shut off and scroll past you because they know your post is an ad. Thus, my short answer would be to work on including some sort of call to action within the photo. Make the photo engaging and encourage people to like and/or comment. Perhaps some sort of contest? The easiest way to get a lot from your influencer partners in your affiliate program is to set up a compensation plan with them where they’re paid a flat amount of money in exchange for promoting your products or services on their feed. Most influencers do not like working on a commission basis. They would much rather get cash upfront. If your brand were willing to do this, this would be the best way to get their attention. You could even work out a zero commission deal with them where they don’t earn commission from the sales they refer at all. If the influencer is really powerful, you might even come out ahead despite the upfront risk.
