And another big reason? Cost. Most of the big Influencers work solely on a pay-per-post model, where companies have to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars for a single Instagram post. Sure, maybe you’re Pepsi and you have that sort of spend. But we’re assuming most of you a) don’t want to spend anywhere near that much, and b) want to work with Influencers on a traditional affiliate marketing model (commission on sale). It goes without saying, it’s much more likely that micro-influencers will work on this model.
Schreib also die Marken gerne mal an und schau was passiert.
When the giveaway ends and it’s time to send out your product to the winner, make sure you communicate directly with the winner themselves and try to get some additional marketing goodwill from this. You can ask the winner to post about their winning on their own social media pages so that their friends and family learn about your brand. You can also incentivize the winner to refer friends and family by providing them with additional discounts for doing so. If you’re not keen on giving away your product for free you could also host a contest that allows the winner to purchase your product but at a significant, one-time discount.
Not too long ago, Instagram added a “story” function to their platform to compete with Snapchat. It has since exploded in popularity and continues to keep thousands of people glued to their phones on a daily basis. Why not take advantage of this feature with the Instagram influencers in your affiliate program? Story posts take minimum effort and there’s a good chance that the influencer will be happy to throw some of these in for you for free if you’re already running a campaign with them.
Now, this is is just a guideline that most influencers (and influencer talent agencies) go by. There are plenty of brands out there who aren’t willing to pay this high so you be the judge of what you’re willing to accept. Don’t undersell yourself though. It takes a lot of work to produce content and just because someone is willing to pay something, doesn’t mean it’s enough for the work involved or the reach you provide.
With the maturing of the affiliate marketing industry, we are witnessing the emergence of influencers. These could be gurus who conduct programs in affiliate marketing. Or they could be bloggers who specialize in writing about affiliate marketing. Or they could be affiliate marketers who openly share their secrets of success. If some of these influencers put in a good word for you, their credibility could end up giving you nice inroads into the affiliate marketing community.

Monetizing a blog or social media platform is a pretty hot and oftentimes polarizing topic. There are some people who are absolutely fascinated by the fact that bloggers and social media influencers can earn money (and sometimes lots of it!) for merely posting photos of themselves and their life. Others think that posting sponsored content somehow “taints” your online presence. Personally, I’m of the camp that nobody should work for free. Growing a blog and Instagram takes a lot of time and effort, so you should absolutely be paid for your effort. If you’re interested in turning your blog or Instagram into a money-making business, read on for my comprehensive step-by-step guide on how to monetize these platforms.
I personally use Reward Style, which is a little more exclusive (there’s an application process involved). It’s more fashion based, which is not as ideal for me, and as thus I’ve recently signed up for Link Share (Rakukaten) as well. To give you an idea, I’m making about $100 per month (which is really not a lot) with Reward Style – meaning blog visitors are spending about $1500-2000 through affiliate links. I only link about 20% of my links through them though, since a lot of the home decor / baby items I share on my blog aren’t part of the Reward Style program. Once I’ve had some experience with other affiliate programs and how well they work for a lifestyle blogger like myself, I’ll make sure to update this post.

Like any social media platform, increasing followers, views, engagement, and CTRs are a function of user activity. Posting at least once daily should be your goal. Using hashtags makes your content more discoverable. You should add ten to twenty hashtags to every post without appearing spammy. I have my hashtags ready to copy and paste in a memo on my phone. Check out your competition to understand what hashtags they use and discover the most popular hashtags with a tool like RiteTag. You might also like to read Hootsuite’s The Do’s and Don’ts of How to Use Hashtags and The Complete Instagram Hashtag Guide. Lastly, you might want to buy followers or use marketing automation and bots to attract people to your profile. For differing opinions on these topics, search for “buying IG followers, “IG bots,” and “IG automation.”

Once you’re starting to work with brands in a paid capacity, it’s great to have a media kit on hand to send along when requested. A media kit is a document that outlines the key facts and statistics of your blog. From the number of blog readers / social media followers you have, your page views, reader / follower demographics, the types of collaborations you do, and brands you’ve worked with in the past. You’ll also want to include a short bio of yourself / your blog as well as where you can be found online. Jeni, from The Media Maven wrote a detailed post about what you need to include to make a kick-a** media kit.

Shopping Links worked with the team at Pepperjam to identify a number of influencers who met not only the traffic requirements but were the right fit in terms of audience and brand alignment – all within Nordstrom Rack’s affiliate marketing budget. A total of three fashion and lifestyle influencers provided increased awareness, traffic and sales together with a boost in brand recognition – without the need for more costly traditional advertising methods.
If you are just getting started, it is a perfectly fine strategy to come up with special offers for influencers. One such offer could be giving them 5% (or some other number) lifetime commissions on sales made by affiliates who sign up due to them. Another idea could be to consider relaxing some of the terms for followers of these early influencers. Also, you could consider offering exclusive affiliate tools to select influencers.
The first is to choose a good, memorable username so when people are tagging you in their photos on Instagram they don’t have to search hard to find you. It’s best not to have any strange characters in there too as it can make it more difficult for people to find you. If you have a twitter, the same username can help when people are looking for you. If you are a brand, make sure your Instagram handle is the same as your brand.
My name is Jamie Spencer and I have spent the past 5 years building money making blogs. After growing tired of the 9-5, commuting and never seeing my family I decided that I wanted to make some changes and launched my first blog. Since then I have launched lots of successful niche blogs and after selling my survivalist blog I decided to teach other people how to do the same.
Thank you for this amazing post! It has definitely put my mind into set and changed a lot about the way I will post and do things on Instagram. Such a great help! And I did DM you on Instagram. Hoping to hear from you, had a few questions for you there! And another thing…. I love your instagram and blog posts. I have been following for a while now and definitely you are a huge influencer! Thanks again 🙂
Building on last year’s inaugural edition of The Awin Report, the first, global definitive guide to the industry, this new and updated version for 2018 provides a fresh take on the market as it stands. Utilizing data and insights tracked across our 15 different markets, over 100,000 affiliate partners and 13,000 brands worldwide, this amounts to an invaluable guide for the modern marketer on affiliate marketing’s DNA.

An influencer can also choose to shorten the non-linkable URL that they include in their Instagram post by using bit.ly. If we “bit.ly” this link to AP’s blog, www.accelerationpartners.com/blog, it would look like http://bit.ly/1SwgojI. The affiliate simply inputs their affiliate link into a link shortener tool to get the shortened link. The Instagram follower would then copy/paste this link into their browser which would redirect them through an affiliate link to the merchants site.
I look forward to seeing if/how this $57k investment pays off for you. It’s a pretty interesting experiment to say the least. I have the same dilemma with the Instagram account I just created for my bow tie company, Chringle & Co. I see how the fashion accounts that get tons of attention operate, but I’m not flashy enough to organize a daily photo shoot to showcase my #details. Dah well, hopefully I can use the approach you have and work with other Instagram models and fashion-forward individuals in the coming months.

If all of this has convinced you that you want to start as an affiliate influencer on Instagram, or if you’re a brand and you want to recruit some influencers on an affiliate basis remember some of the key points - make sure that your Instagram profile stands out from the rest, work on developing good relationships with the people you want to work with and make sure you have a strategy and clear expectations that work for you both. This way neither of you will be disappointed and you should be on your way to creating more revenue.
